HOLY WOW CACAO Alta Verapaz ~ 1 lb. Block
PRE-ORDER ONLY
Alta Verapaz, known as the Cacao capital of the world, is most notable for being an ancient region of Cacao that is commonly award-winning in modern day chocolate competitions.
This region of our Holy Wow Cacao, unlike our other three regions, is actually a collective of small, micro-farms. A man named Matt, from England, came there with a love of Cacao, and noticed that there were so many small producers that did not have enough cacao-supply to meet any real demand. To help provide a cohesive and mutually incentivizing plan that is good for people and the earth, he helped formed a cooperative with the local people where, through one central meeting point, anyone in the village who has Cacao to sell, could come and deposit it there at a high value.
Now, everyone has income from something that was once just a common tree, and it was going to waste. The people throughout the village are all trained on growing organically, and permaculturally as well, so it keeps the quality and integrity high.
We love this Cacao, especially because it has such a dynamic flavor, very different than a single origin farm, because you have so many different soil compositions and types of organic compost being fed to the trees, as well as the energy of each family, who is growing the Cacao.
